Secretary Carolann Wicks
Carolann Wicks was officially sworn in as the eighth Secretary of Transportation on February 1, 2006. Prior to her appointment as Secretary, Ms. Wicks most recently held the positions of Chief Engineer for the Department, and the Director of the Division of Transportation Solutions. Ms. Wicks has worked at the Department for more than 25 years, serving in several capacities, including Assistant Chief Engineer and Assistant Director for the Project Management Team. She is a member of the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Standing Committee on Highways and the AASHTO Transportation and Education Management Institute Steering Committee. She also is a member of the American Association of State Highway Engineers. Additionally, Ms. Wicks is a licensed engineer and has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Delaware. Secretary Wicks was recently designated as the 2008 - 2009 President for the Northeast Association of State Transportation Officials (NASTO). NASTO is one of four regional groups that comprise the nationwide American Association of State Highway Officials (AASHTO).
