Project Information: The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) Division of Planning has proposed to develop a long-range transportation plan for the South State Street corridor in Kent County. The purpose of the Plan is to develop possible future land use development scenarios and to assess the impact of those scenarios on the transportation system. The Plan will develop related transportation projects and strategies that will address the future needs of the area while maintaining and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
Goals & Objectives Goal of the Plan To develop a set of integrated transportation system and land use strategies and projects that will support the area's designation as a Growth Zone while maintaining or improving the quality of life for residents. Purpose of the Plan To recommend integrated transportation system improvement projects and land use strategies that will address the future needs and enhance the quality of life for people who live and work in the area. Objectives To expand upon the South State Street Area and Access Study that was completed by the Dover-Kent Metropolitan Planning Organization in May 2002. To assess the impact of possible future land development on the transportation system. To identify land development, transit, roadway, bicycle and pedestrian network strategies that should be considered in developing the scenarios. Working Group Information and Meetings Purpose of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) To bring together stakeholders (residents, businesses, institutions, government agencies) for the purpose of identifying and addressing the long range transportation needs of the South State Street area. To work with DelDOT and Kent County to identify the land use scenarios and the transportation system strategies for consideration. To provide information, suggestions and feedback to DelDOT and Kent County on the alternative plans developed for consideration. To recommend transportation improvement strategies that will maintain the quality of life in the South State Street study area. |
